Current finding#
As at 14 October 2026, the material reviewed does not establish wrongdoing. The Vale’s statements describe what it holds. They do not establish what the County Council’s own committee papers contain.
Next step#
Search the Glamorgan Archives for County Council committee minutes and valuation papers around the 1965 purchase; separately identify and search planning/development-control committee records and general council minutes from June 1988 to February 1989 for any reference to Great House Farm, Tŷ Mawr, listing/retention or demolition. The National Archives’ DCVG catalogue identifies general minute volumes DCVG/C/1/33 (June–November 1988) and DCVG/C/1/34 (December 1988–February 1989), but this does not confirm that the specific planning-committee minutes are in those volumes or that the farmhouse was discussed. See DCVG catalogue and New Archival Leads, section 8.4. Acceptance: the correct minute series is identified and searched; either the relevant page/minute is cited or a dated, scoped negative search is recorded. Absence from general minutes alone does not prove no discussion occurred.
